Commissioning and integration

Satellite communications networks are comprised of many different subsystems from user terminals and devices to satellite access points or antennas, the ground/core network, the command and control system, the Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment, and of course the satellites in orbit. Making all of these components work together is what GNS refers to as  integration. However, prior to that the system must be commissioned with the correct configurations and site specific data.

GNS's Field Systems Engineers are not only highly experienced installers, they are also trained in command line based software configuration and troubleshooting, network switches, Radio Frequency (RF) engineering and the GPS signals required to make a network work. After installing the equipment and powering it on, our onsite team ensures that every component contains the correct version of software and firmware. Next the subsystems are configured with the IP addresses and device names etc. assigned to the site, which is then followed by bringing the system into operation. Each one of the hundreds of cables must be correctly labeled and connected and every one of the dozens of module must have the right settings. We ensure complete integration of the network components and subsystems end-to-end.
