site acceptance testing

Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) is a series of test cases that verify beyond any doubt that the system has been correctly installed, all the provisioning and configuration is done accurately, and all the network components and subsystems are fully integrated and functional as a unified system. Site Acceptance Testing of a satellite communications network requires not only in-depth knowledge of the deployed system but also experience in multiple disciplines from systems engineering to Radio Frequency (RF) testing and hardware as well as software troubleshooting skills.

Our team has the expertise to devise the right procedures to test each critical network function and articulate these procedures in the form of easy to follow test documents. Prior to starting Site Acceptance Testing the GNS engineers ensure that all the right test tools are on hand. These include several specialized pieces of testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, fiber testers, multimeters and various software based test tools. We start off with 'dry run' tests that are less intrusive than live testing but give the team a reasonable level of confidence that the system has been implemented correctly. In a typical SAT test campaign, our testing includes verifying all the internal and external network interfaces, authentication and security of the network, clock signaling, module by module component status, power up/down processes, and transmit and receive power levels of the RF components.
